Oh, A Day with Mom!
I am home!
Finally I am home from my first year of college! The very first day back, I went out with my mumsie for lunch. We LOVE to try new things and so we found a cute little Himalayan restaurant. It was a $9.99/person buffet and Mom and I were feeling adventurous.
We tried nearly everything, and the staff and service were good. AND SO WAS THE FOOD, PRAISE THE LORD! The robust dishes resembled a lot of Indian and Sri Lankan dishes we were already familiar with, and although we're not particularly qualified to validate authenticity, our adventuresome spirits, full tummies, and taste buds were more than satisfied!
After lunch, Mumsie and I headed to the farmer's market. There we talked to the farmers and merchants offering their goods. We purchased some pretty purple flowers from an enthusiastic gardener.
I just adore talking to people about their businesses and the products they personally love and believe in. I love when they get all excited to share their knowledge and teach someone about the things that they love, especially when they have that twinkle in their eye!
I encourage all of you to go out, spend some time laughing and walking and talking with someone you love! Often times, the ones closest to us are the people we forget to show love.
And then, get out there and support local businesses! I find it so rewarding to take part in the dreams of a small business owner, just by supporting them. I find it even more rewarding to talk to them and let them know what you like about their business- those small compliments and acts of kindness can mean a lot to someone who works so hard! Being a locavore (someone who supports locally grown food, and as I extend it, to local businesses) helps your community and is a great way to love your neighbor.
How do you love your neighbor? Your neighbor can be the person in the bedroom next to you, the lady down the street, your grocer or even the farmer down the road!
The days where I get to love people, whether that's my family or a farmer, are the best days because I take the focus of my life off of myself and enjoy the people and the world around me.
Cheers to greater days ahead!
