Dust off the Vases
Hi friends!
It has been a while since my last post! Here are some life updates!
First, I am at the very last day of my midterms week!!! I HAVE MADE IT THUS FAR!!! These times always remind me to stay grateful and keep my eye on the prize. It is kind of funny, but midterms and final's week remind me of the valleys of life. It is hard, but you have been prepared for it in the past months- you had every opportunity to prepare.
That's just a thought to chew on.
A couple other fun things that have happened in my own life, then I am going to share about what I am learning.
I have started talking to a health coach. Not because I am particularly unhealthy- I actually consider myself to be quite health-conscious. Instead, I just want to push myself to be better, to learn more about health and how I can take better care of my body. With that, she is coaching me so that I can eventually become a health coach, which has been a dream of mine for a few years now!!
I love when God awakens the old dusty dreams of our hearts. He is SO GOOD and FAITHFUL to do that.
Old dreams are like a vase. Built with capacity to hold something beautiful, but empty for a while. Sometimes, they sit on a shelf, gather dust, and start looking old and unwanted... forgotten even. Well, I want to testify that God knows exactly which shelf that vase has been placed, and he knows how to clean it up, polish it up, and fill it to become the centerpiece of your life. So don't take old dreams and throw them on the ground in frustration. Don't break them or give up on them. Hold them. Pray over them. And let God do His thing in His way and His timing.
God spoke this to me this past week, three distinct times. Each was about these old dreams coming to life. My friends Steve and Mary came into town on my birthday on Monday. We went to breakfast and talked about some of the dreams God has placed in my heart. A couple of those hopes and dreams are to get married, and to serve God's people internationally (missionary work). Both of those seem so far off and often become frustrating to me.
However, Mikayla, my friend, spoke in our university chapel. She shared her testimony of old dreams God reawakened and filled. My other friend Christina also shared. Her sermon was different because God had her change what she was going to share ONE HOUR before she was to step on the stage. She shared about God filling dreams that had been on the back burner of her life 15 years after he originally put them in her heart. Y'all. She wasn't even in chapel when Mikayla spoke. And neither Mikayla nor Christina were there with my conversation with Steve and Mary. But the Lord was. He knows where my heart is. He is the one who selected and placed those dreams into my soul.
So God, right now, I just want to bring my frustration before You. You have the right timing. May I wait graciously. Thank you for the encouragement that you see me. Help me to not compare my story to anyone else's- Your Authorship is Sovereign and Beautiful. I will let you write my story. Thank you for dreams. Thank you for placing vases on my shelf that you fully intend to fill. Amen.
Until next time,
