Processing CareerWise

I am feeling sad. I just jumped off of a call with my ED Team at CareerWise for a morning check-in and I really love these people. I love the forward thinking, the way that they push one another to excel in their work on behalf of the kids of the Denver Metro Area. I love the innovation, the fast-paced environment, the hopefulness, the jokes.

And yet I have this daunting feeling that so soon, it is coming to an end. I am just contracting here, and I am already beginning to grieve it. I know that I will add as much value to the organization as I can, until the very last day I am there. That’s just who I am! I believe in this mission, but I also recognize my time with them as an employee is short…
This reminds me of a conversation I just had yesterday. It was about strangers and moments that we sometimes share with them. I love the melancholy beauty of the way we can connect with a perfect stranger- sometimes sharing a laugh, smile, or story of hope. We have the opportunity to shine light into their day, and though we may never see them again or know the magnitude or minute weight of our interaction, we have been a part of their moment no matter how brief.
It makes me think of my faith, as many things do. We are called to live in a manner that is worthy of the calling on our life, to walk humbly and with gentleness, patience and love. Truly, these things always bring good into a situation or moment, no matter how tense the situation or the length of time the interaction may be.

So today, as I reflect, I wanted to extend an invitation to you. Our time is short. The world around us- uncertain. But our hope is steadfast when we place it in the One who is the source of humility, gentleness, patience, love, and the divine calling over our lives. He is unshakeable. With your moments, I hope you will join me in letting out the light- let it pour into the world around you! If you’re world consists of your family- let it spread over them. If you meet someone in the cereal isle of the grocery store- let it spill over to them. If you’re calling a friend far away, let you light reach them too.

This life has so much to offer! Yet, it doesn’t offer everything. There’s give and take of things both good and bad, and truthfully, I think it is to prepare our souls that one day most of what we’ve come to believe is oursreally was all temporal. It all gets taken from us- and if we’ve put our hope and faith in Christ, we are given something oh so much greater.
So here’s to the give and take, to letting the light in- no matter if we are in a receiving or releasing phase! May we have strength and stamina to hold fast to hope, trusting that God will see us through.

"I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all." ~Ephesians 4:1-6

Love Always,
Melissa xoxo
