Poetry Slam #pslam

Hi friends!

I have a rather hidden love for poetry, and I thought I would share some of the poems I have felt inspired to write this week!

There are three of them, so I feel like I am slamming a lot of poetry onto this page... like a poetry slam! #pslam (Get it, "p slam!" It is kind of like a Psalm because Psalms is full of poetic outpourings of joy, anguish and gratitude! Anyhow, I thought it was clever...)

Poem #1: Quiet Surrender
Quiet Surrender
Silent transformation on inner things unseen.
Patience. Waiting. Breathing. Resting.
Transformation.
Oh, what mystical unknowns
 of the quiet and stillness!
For the first time,
 second time,
  infinite time
A holy covenant of the giving over of self...
At times, it is with words,
 but more often than not
  'tis during the silence, the waiting
   the stillness.

...perhaps silence is the sound of one's utter submission.

{Psalm 46:10 "He says, 'Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.'"}



Poem #2: {About Art}
there is something so special about art.
somehow my soul comes away smiling
because somehow a stranger
was able to express that which I myself could not explain.

and very simply,
 there is a mysterious joy brought about by the connection
  of the artist & myself,
linked by and because
 of their work of art.



Poem #3: {one more on art!}
You know, sometimes I can't explain what I feel.
And then I look at a piece of art.

Then somehow
 those squiggles on a canvas
 in their tumultuous tumble of color
 bring me a peace
 and a calm.

I can look at the canvas,
point, and say,
 "That is exactly how I feel."
