Girl's Lacrosse
This is a post for lax girls!
I played my first year of high school lacrosse this year!

First of all, if you are wondering if you should play lacrosse, I would love to give you any tips and answer any questions you might have! So feel free to leave a comment below. :)
It all started with a tour to UCD, University of California, Davis. A friend from church went there and I had a cheer competition in eighth grade. So my mom and I asked Jane if she would give us a tour of the campus, since we would be in the area. She had mentioned that she tried out lacrosse there, and she loved it! She said it was similar to soccer because you run up and down the field, and I later learned she was right! The positions are also similar to soccer; there is a center, two midfielders, and usually four defenders and four on attack.
The game of lacrosse is rising in popularity across the U.S., and especially in the East Bay, where I reside.
It is amazing to see how it almost popped out of nowhere and tons of people are falling in love with it!

So I found myself wanting to play a high school sport. I knew I would regret it if I never played a season of high school sports. Yet, volleyball was too competitive for beginners, softball had the requirement that you had to be playing since you were two years old, basketball was an 18-hour a week commitment, and so on and so forth. Not only that, but we have to pay for sports, and gosh, I didn't want to put that on my family! I want to go to college!
Lacrosse was perfect. I went to the preseason training, and sure it was frustrating at first. WHAT IS CRADLING!?!???! But by the end of two weeks, I had persevered and made lots of progress. I was ready to work hard and go for it!
I can gladly say that our JV team did amazing this year! All but one of the girls had ever played lacrosse before and we were a feared team on that field. We won about half of our games, and we put up quite a fight for each and every one of them.
I remember our first scrimmage day; the best moment of the season was stepping out that day and playing my heart out- I fell in love with the sport instantly. I am laughing, just remembering that I had an uncontrollable grin that lasted days from the sheer joy I had from just those first five minutes of playing.
So in retrospect, this was probably one of the highlights of my high school career thus far. It has been about a month since we finished the season, but I am still running and practicing as I look forward to Varsity lacrosse next year.
Lacrosse is too good for an off-season.
