Latin American Music
Hey guys!
Just wanted to share something cool I found today.
So I am at my grandma's place and wanted to play her some music because she loves music! She speaks Spanish and spent much of her early life in Nicaragua, which is in Central America. She used to spend a lot of her time singing as she did her work in Managua and Nondaime in Nicaragua!
However, since she had cancer and various treatments to help her get better, some of her vocal cords were damaged and so she can't sing like she used to.
Anyway, I love to see the joy that music can bring to a person, and so I thought I could find some music that she would like! How hard could it be to find some music from her time, right? The internet has everything...
Harder than I had thought!
So, while she was cooking some pipianes con queso in the kitchen, I scrambled online to find something she would recognize. Here are some of the songs my abuelita recognized, danced to, and sang with.

- "La Bamba" by Ritchie Valens
- "Como Oye Va" by Tito Puente
- "La Tula Cuecha"
- "Caballito Chontaleño"
- "El Sonar De Monimbo" by Camilio Zapata
These last two are more traditional folk songs specific to Nicaragua, in regions including or near where my family came from.
Hope this is interesting to you! Maybe it will help somebody bring a smile to their grandparent's face too! They just love walking down memory lane... <3
