Prayer for Single Moms

Notes from a Missions Conference 2014:
-7-8 out of 10 families living in urban slums/ghettos are led by single moms
-over HALF of the worlds population lives in cities; 1/3 of these are urban slums/ghettos
^these ppl are MOST receptive to the gospel
LOVE is our most powerful weapon. Love the people nobody loves.
ACTS 2: 42-47
Slow down and take time to see ppl the way God sees them. {Matthew 9:36} they are harassed and helpless. Jesus's response: WE NEED TO PRAY.

Looking back at these notes, I am remembering a little peek of what it could be like for a single mom.
My mom and dad went to go celebrate their 20th anniversary (yay them!) in South America. Dad had a business trip and they coupled it because... why not?!?
Anyway, I was at home, taking care of my brother. Feeding him, cleaning the house, laundry, dishes, mail, errands, etc... wow I gained a few valuable lessons! I have so much respect for moms. They do a lot! Also, my brother, bless his heart, didn't help out that much. So it was on me for the most part. (I did have him do a few small jobs like taking out the trash.) It took just one moment for me to realize- wow, this must be what it is like for a single mom. I realize, there are other stressors that single moms deal with that I couldn't understand simply because I am not a single mom. However, I do feel that this experience has shown me just a little peak into what their life must be like. It is exhausting. I decided to pray for the single moms I knew and those in my area. What incredible, strong women they must be to put a smile on their face, even while trying to provide everything good to their kids.
So when I heard that 7.5 out of every 10 families living in urban slums and ghettos are led by single moms, it triggered something in my heart. Being a single mom is already quite a task. But add more children and even more financial pressure... what a heart-breaking scenario.
If there population of the world is about 7.13 billion people, half of them live in cities, one third live in these urban slums and ghettos, and 75% of the families living in urban slums and ghettos are led by single moms,  we could estimate that about 262,500,000 people on this earth today live in a slum/ghetto led by a single mom. These people need hope, need love, need Jesus. And they need us to pray and go be Jesus with skin on to them.
If you're feeling brave, go on ahead and ask God to show you how he wants YOU to be an extension of His love to this world. Beware, he does answer prayers. He can change your life and fill you up with so much passion and purpose that it very well could shake you out from some of the very comforts you have enjoyed (and perhaps even taken for granted) today. He gives his children good gifts, He is faithful, He is true.
As my youth pastor would always say, "He died for you; will you live for Him?"
